Rising Beyond the Story
I lost my mother to domestic violence when I was two years old. What followed was a childhood marked by abuse—sexual, physical, and emotional—and years in the foster care system. These experiences shaped me, carved depth into my spirit, and taught me resilience I didn't know I possessed. But they don't define me.
What defines me is the choice I make every single day: to be the mother my four children need. Each of them is different, with their own dreams, struggles, and beautiful complexities. One of my sons is on the autism spectrum, and I advocate fiercely for him—not from a place of limitation, but from a foundation of empowerment. His neurological differences don't define him any more than my trauma defines me. Instead, I focus on unlocking his strengths, celebrating his perspective, and showing him that he is exactly who he's meant to be.
I became a mother determined to break cycles and defy statistics. I wanted my children to witness what it looks like to rise above circumstances, to find good even in the hardest moments, and to turn pain into purpose. But my mission extends beyond my own four walls. I want to show other mothers, fathers, and young people that your past doesn't have to dictate your future. You can rewrite your story.
Through my autism advocacy work and The P.R.U philosophy (Push, Rise, Unlock), I champion a perspective that celebrates neurodivergence rather than pathologizes it. And through sharing my journey, I hope to reach anyone who's been told their trauma makes them less than, their circumstances make them incapable, or their differences make them broken.
Trauma is a part of my story, but it isn't all of me. I am a mother. An advocate. A survivor who became a thriver. A woman who went through hell so that others might find a roadmap out of their own darkness.
This website represents all parts of me—the messy, the healed, the still-growing. It's a testament to the truth that you can find good in everything if you're willing to look for it. And more than anything, it's proof that you are so much more than what happened to you.
